early morning call...
got a shock on fri morning.. was still sleeping when i got an unknown phonecall.
"Is this Lt Chen?" (with the mispronounced "chen" again...)
"errr, ya... who is this?" (got confused by his pronunciation)
"Major Peng from navy pers here."
"Oh hi sir..." (frantic... trying to recall who this person here....)
my mind is trying to process what did i do wrong... it's rare for a major to call me personally, and not thru a clerk... heart starting to beat... fully awake now...
"are u still in service?"
"ya, but i'm studying in NUS now.." (shucks.. must stop saying ya to a major...)
I was thinking, ok, maybe this is abt vacation attachment.. but why the major have to call me directly? hmm, maybe cos he has a project that he wants me to help... maybe he heard of my good work done during previous attachments... haha.... (inflated self again...)
Maj: "oh you know the IPPT incident ah, i need to ask u some stuff...."
hmm, then i was trying hard to think... then i remembered... "ya, sir?"
Maj: "was it a big short cut the person took?"
And then he went on to ask me a few more questions. like if i was alone, etc etc...
anyway the story goes like this:
During the last july holidays, i took my annual IPPT at sembawang naval base. it was a 2 and a 1/2 rounds around the camp. then at the finishing stretch, i saw this guy walk down a staircase beside the road and joined in. at that time there were only a few pple in front of me (navy pple are not fit enough), and i think there wasn't anyone close behind me and my buddy. my "spider sense" kicked in and i tried to catch my buddy's attention. but i was short of breath, so i just kept eye contact on that bugger... at the finishing point, i quickly summoned the PTI and told him what i saw. thankfully i could remember what shoes he was wearing (trust me to notice such details..) and pinpointed the person. then the PTI called the supervising and conducting officers, both enciks. strange that they went back to their office b4 the ippt ended, but that's another story... (slackers!!) anyway they asked me to write a report and sign it. So i did.
That was a few days b4 my attachment at Tracom ended, and i told them that i was going back to study. then they had to call me when i was at home (punggol) to ask me to sign a typewritten version of my report... argh... but i didn't in the end.. i asked my buddy to do so.. haha...
then now suddenly this phonecall.. to ask more abt the incident.. still not settled!! the inefficencies... sigh... disappointing...
